Did You Know?

Meta's Message

The wind blows harshly, the sun shines brightly and strongly, the weather is very cold to our skin, and our friends and connections are warmer and more satisfying than ever.

Life is full of contradictions, yes? So we do have the choice about what we focus on since there are many perspectives.

In yoga we say that whatever we put our attention on, grows. We may  not believe this, we may not understand this, but perhaps we just experiment (quoting Pema Chodron, who says live life as an experiment) and see if when our minds become especially busy and agitated, we focus on what is positive, what we can smile about. We could give it a try and see what happens.

As 2005 winds down and we come to the transition to a new year, I'd like to urge those of you who are interested in going deeper in the study and practice of yoga to consider the YogaNow Teacher Training Apprentice Program. You don't have to want to teach, just to go deeper. The next session begins in February.

May your week be full of smiles and moments of ease,

In peace,
With smiles,

Meta.
(Namaste in devanagari script-“I bow to you.”)

Meta.

Teacher Highlight

David
teaches Vinyasa yoga because he learns so much from his students. In this fluid practice, breath and motion are emphasized as students are encouraged to slowly invent their own, unique expressions. A life-long lover of endurance athletics and the outdoors, David has completed 3 marathons, 4 half-ironman triathlons and in 2000 won his age group in the Ohio State Triathlon Series. These days, winter weekends find him in the mountains pursing that singular moment of movement and harmony while Soulriding on his snowboard. David received his Ashtanga/Vinyasa teacher certification from Reed Taylor and Gretchen Wiese at "It's Yoga South Beach" in Miami Beach, Florida.
